PRODUCT DESCRIPTION FOR THE STATE OF LOUISIANA FLAG
In 1912, a hundred years after attaining state status, Louisiana adopted its official state flag. It has an image of a mother pelican feeding her three babies in a nest. This symbol dates back to the earliest days of Louisiana's settlement. Legend states that mother pelicans would peck at their own breasts until they bled to provide nourishment for their young when food was scarce. The symbolism of bloodshed indicates the sacrifices of the people of the state.
After hurricane Katrina in 2005, a bill was enacted by the state legislature to specify three drops of blood appear on the mother pelican's breast.
Our state flags are made from 100% high quality lightweight knitted polyester, specially made for flags, is UV resistant and does well in all weather conditions.
