Nopal is a concrete basin with textured surfaces that mimic the plant’s pads, inviting touch and evoking natural, tactile sensations. The nopal, or prickly pear, can be seen as a symbol of connection between Mexico and Italy, as it thrives in both countries. Native to the desert regions of northern Mexico and brought to Europe by Spanish conquerors, the nopal adapted to harsh climates and quickly spread throughout central and southern Italy.
This basin is part of the collection "Una gota en la arena". This collection is born from the collaboration between ISAD, Instituto Superior de Arquitectura y Diseño, and Forma&Cemento, blending the geometric minimalism of the brand with the essence of the designers' Mexican roots. Inspired by the arid landscape of northern Mexico, the collection of concrete basins and tiles celebrates water as a precious and scarce resource, in contrast with the desert environment. Through a pure and timeless design, the collection harmonizes culture, history, and nature, reflecting attention to detail and the desire to create long-lasting and meaningful products.
